Newtonian law specifically... 2 guys are pulling a donkey; one from an angle of 80° at 80N, the other from an angle of 75° at 120N. What is the resulting force? F1 = 80N, :theta:1 = 80' F2 = 120N; :theta:2 = 75' Now what you want to do is find the sum of all forces for each coordinate (x and y) :sum:Fx = 80cos(80) + 120cos(75) That will give you the x-vector of both forces. Do the same for the Y-vector.. :sum:Fy = 80sin(80) + 120sin(75) (if you don't know why to use sin and cos, let me know) Now you have the sum of forces on the X and Y axis. To add the vectors, you must find the hypotenuse of the vector diagram. The hypotenuse will be your final sum of all forces Using a^2 + b^2 = c^2: c = sqrt(Fx^2 + Fy^2) That will be your final answer. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
