  1. Okay, I understand now, that was essentially what I was asking was whether or not relativisitic mass counted in this question. Thanks! P.S. - Schwartschild radius is for calculating the diameter that something of a certain mass that something would have to be to become a black hole.
  2. Well I'm assuming that we can assume that we are not movign anywhere near that fast because we probably wouldn't see light from many other objects because it would blue/red shift right off to the edges of the spectrum.
  3. Grade 12U physics? I mean, I'm pretty sure what I'm saying is accurate and my physics teacher agreed that what I was saying was hypothetically possible but he couldn't verify anything.
  4. No, due to Lorentz contraction it's length decreases and because of the exceptional amount of energy it's carrying it's mass increases, while, unrelatedly, it moves through time at a different rate.
  5. This may be a very ridiculous question but I thought of something curious in physics class today and came upon a bizarre idea. If an object decreases in size and increases in mass when it reachs towards the speed of light then could an object not eventually drop below it's own schwartschild radius and form a singularirty or do the laws of general/special relativity not apply in this fashion?
  6. Hi, I'm Steve from Ontario, I'm currently in Grade 12 focusing on computer engineering and physics as a 'major'. I'll gladly join in any discussion and I'm glad to learn from everyone here a well. I don't do to well in school, but not so much for a lack of intelligence as it is being to busy on the computer and reading, kind of ironic .
  7. I'm um, rather new here *cough*, but I was recently reading about this topic and I just glanced over whats been said and I don't think this has been stated yet, but... Except for the normal variations in intelligence between everyday individuals each race proves to be basically the same in terms of intelligence. Ignorance among those of the african american persuasion arrives due to disparities and the lack of good education in the areas where they are concentrated, urban detroit for example. In detroit how much time do you think is burned by disruptions or fighting between students because of the propegation of the problems in their area. I hate to forward the stereotype but in a lot of situations it can be very difficult for a black person to 'get out' of the ghetto or whatever you may choose to call it. What you are comparing is clearly not intelligence but education. Consider how you said Orientals rank higher than others, well, the oriental school systems (China/Japan) have classes that run one or two hours longer than north american ones, not to mention it is ingrained in their culture and familial structure that they are supposed to study hard and work.
