Shall I attend this conference?

Hey, guys, I need your opinion on something.

There is this National level conference in my country and I had sent a review paper for the presentation. I received the news that it has been rejected far too late (I had already made my travel plans), but in retrospect, I had done a really shoddy work. It was a fiasco.

Anyway, I have the opportunity here to attend the conference. My friends tell me it's not worth it. But on the other hand, the exposure there can help me a lot, since I want to pursue a career in the field of research.

What would you do if you were in my place?

Thank you.

It is up to you, however I would say that even if not presenting a paper or poster conferences can still be worth attending. You will meet other people doing similar things and establish long term contacts. Also, in my experience (maths conferences at least) always have a great social aspect. You maybe able to discuss things with experts while drinking wine or beer!
