What math is used in chemistry?

Featured Replies

Hi, you know how you can't do physics without math, is chem the same?

If so, what main areas are essential to learn?

Thanks for any info :)

Many areas . Thermodynamics , reaction kinetics , electrochemistry , quantum mechanics ------

Algebra is a DEFINITE subject that you need to master in order to be successful in chemistry, and some fairly simple calculus isn't required, but will be immensely helpful in certain areas.

Maybe even a 2nd level algebra class

Or even simply converting L@STP--->formula units

Cool, thanks guys

I'm taking linear algebra at the moment and a course on matlab. Hopefuly that should be enough to get me through next semesters chemistry course.

Thanks again :)
