I need a research idea that combines oncology and podiatry?

Featured Replies

Its an odd combination I realize, but I'm currently a podiatry student and most research in podiatry is in the field of biomechanics. I have 2 years of experience in researching Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphomas but relating this to podiatry would be difficult since lymphomas in the axial skeleton are rare. So I'm trying to think outside the box... I would love a research idea that combines oncology and podiatry. Any ideas?

The effect of tumors in different places on the body on ankle agility / walking? I don't know much about podiatry, so take it for what you will.

This post turned up in my alerts! , so I joined to respond. (hope the mods let link drops).

This is a collection of case reports over the last 9 yrs in which a cancer metatasis has resulted in foot pain - in a lot of these cases, the foot pain was the first symptom of the cancer ...its obviously very rare, but very serious when it occurs; there are plenty of research ideas from that (eg what are the red flags that podiatrists need to look out for?, etc)

How about looking at the prevalence of sepsis in chemo patients with a source linked to poor footwear. Patients receive loads of information about avoiding possible infections, does this get missed?
