Chemical Reaction

Featured Replies

When I mix vinegar with baking soda, it produce gas. But it also produce salt, I'm confused on how does gas related to salt.

well its a acid-base reaction followed by decomposition.

CH3COOH + NaHCO3 ---> CH3COONa + H2CO3

the H2CO3 then quickly decomposes into carbon dioxide and water, the CO2 is what you see bubbling. the salt would be sodium acetate, as the acid in vinegar is acetic acid.
