How does Canadian weather effect Solar Hot-Water systems?

As long as a location gets sunlight, solar can be made to supply hot water. However, system cost increases with diminishing light. Thus, the decision is economic or personal preference to decide how many days of hot water one wishes to store before using another method to heat water.
