how can there be villous adenoma in colon, if colon has no villi

Featured Replies

How can a villous adenoma arise in colon, if colon naturally doesn't have villi. Thanks :)

Just a guess - they are still villiform in appearance(although clearly misdirected growth), and they form through incorrect propagation of cells and apoptosis in the crypt area of the mucosa (which is remarkably similar to juncture between the villi and the muscular mucosa in the intestine)
