Thanks.

From Where are you texting?

This should be international - but maybe not - dial "+ 1 (mobile without initial zero)"

The plus tells the phone it is international, the 1 is country code for USA, and you always drop the initial zero off number when dialling from abroad.

The UK would be "+ 44 (number without initial zero)"

From the UK (For example) to phone someone in Stateline, Tahoe, Nevada I would dial: 001 775 5886211

001 for America 775 is the area code for Stateline and 5886211 is the phone number.

If it were a mobile in New York for example, let say their number if dialled from with New York city were 07771 1234567.

I would dial 001 7771 1234567

Top Tip

00 is the international access when dialling from UK - but that is not necessarily the case for dialling from other countries (eg to dial London from NYC you dial 011 44 207... from OZ is it 0011 44 207...). Most of the mobile companies around the world have fixed it that + is always recognised as the international access. + 1 775 5886211 would get Tom's friend in Tahoe when dialling from London, or Europe, USA, and I have been lead to believe most of the world.

If you travel much it is worth plugging the numbers in your mobile phone book with the codes - even my home is listed as +44 207.... So I can always use the same number when travelling and the international bit is ignored when you are dialling the same country.
