Australian universities to go to

Featured Replies

Hello, I am a russian student from Moscow, I am studying in Moscow state university of Lomonosov, a faculty of bioengineering and bioinformatics. Here I am working in a laboratory in the institute of poliomyelitis. I've got 2 years left before graduating and after that, staying in Moscow for getting a postdoc degree is not a variant for me. That is why I'm willing to find out how hard it is to get a job in some australian laboratory, especially a laboratory where viruses are being studied, and to get a post doc degree there. As i want to immigrate there i am also wondering how hard it is for people of my profession. And of course i need your advice about what universities in what cities of Australia are best for a career of a scientist.

Thank you

I'm not sure what yuo mean by a postdoc degree. A postdoc is a job you undertake after qualifying for your PhD, so I'm assuming what you actually mean is you wish to undertake a PhD in Australia:

Here is a ranking of Australian Universities:

In order to conduct a PhD in Australia you would need to have a university agree to sponsor your 574 visa -

This means you'd need to contact a lab which had an available position and was willing to take you on board. This would generally mean you would need to secure some sort of scholarship to undertake your research.

If you wanted to stay in Australia, you'd need to apply for residency upon the completion of your degree. Some nations have a compulsory return period after you studying abroad which you'd need to look into.

Good luck.
