creating an inert atmosphere

Featured Replies

some experiments require an inert atmosphere. does anybody know how one can be achieved at home easily?

You might be able to get old a small cylinder of helium gas, used to blow up helium ballons, and flush out most of the air from your container.

Sometimes CO2 is suitable, in which case you can make it (acid + carbonate) or buy it (welding supply). Also Argon can be sourced from welding supply stores.
