Glycolysis intermediates

Featured Replies

Hi there,

noob question, but i just looked a bit at cellular respiration and seeing that DHAP and PGAL are at the peak of the glycolysis energy curve wondered why, simply put, you could not eat those instead of glucose (cf. NADH). Are they toxic, instable, ...? What about other metabolic intermediates?

Thanks!

Those would hydrolyse in the open air by just looking at it. There is a reason why those are highely energetic compounds.
