If a mother is vaccinated for a virus during or shortly before pregnancy (the vaccine used is a live attenuated virus).. And many many years later, her son is vaccinated for that same virus... Why would he not be responsive?

Smallpox was likely the first disease people tried to prevent by purposely inoculating themselves with other types of infections. Vaccination efforts have been met with some controversy since their inception, on scientific, ethical, political, medical safety, religious, and other grounds.
