How to Determine Pipe Schedule Number

Featured Replies

i have one question. How do I determine pipe schedule number for a given design pressure? Is there any simple formula for determining the schedule number? Please advise me. Thanks a lot.

Once upon a time... and I mean, long, long ago.... Pipe schedule was determined by a formula. I've seen the formula but it's been many, many years so I don't want to even take a stab at it from memory (I do recall that material yield stress was in there somewhere though). But then pipe sizes became standardized and materials changed and blah blah blah...

Cutting to the chase, today there is no formula. You just look it up in tables.
