I'm a new member, and one of my first actions was to check the help pages to see what BBcode was allowed. I was particularly interested to see whether I could post in LaTeX. I did eventually find the answer in a post, but I think it should be mentioned in the Posting section of the Help pages. That's the natural place to look for the information.

I don't think I can actually edit the help pages. However, if you hit the Help button in the post editor you'll get a list of every BBCode we support.

Iirc, new members are sent a PM with a link to the rules and etiquette guidelines. The guidelines have a link(when talking about formatting posts) to the thread to which you linked above.

Hmm, checking the PM, it looks like that's not included. It definitely should be. I'll remember that when I revise it.
