Atomic aborption spectroscopy PLEASE HELP

Featured Replies

Hi I need someone to explain to me what I have done because I confused my self.

- I have a metal complex with 12.77% Fe in it

- I wanted 50 ppm concentration of it: (50 mg/L)/0.1277=391.5 mg/L

- I analysed it with AAS and it gave me a conc. of 39.2 mg/L

- What does this mean?

Should my AAS reading have been close to 391.5 like I calculated it? I don't understand my results at all. Maybe my procedure was wrong?

PLEASE HELP

Does it make any sense that a 50ppm solution of a complex is 391.5ppm of iron?

Haha i can see that I should have done 50 mg/L * 0.1277. I'm going to start again. I didn't see that and nobody else did but thank you, sometimes you need someone to point out the obvious
