Medical genetics question: Should the older parent come before the younger parent?

Featured Replies

Imagine I'm making a pedigree

In (I)

[] = daddy :) (born 1978)

() = mommy (born 1983)

In (II)

[] = son (first born child)

() = daughter (second child)

I..[]--()

......|...

......|...

II.[]--()

Or does it not matter which parent was born first?

I..()--[]

......|...

......|...

II.[]--()

Where possible, the male should be placed on the left of a mating line. Then children are placed in order of birth.
