Let f(x) be..

let f(x) be { 3-x, x<1

{ ax^2+bx, x>/ 1

if it's continuous for all x what is the relationship between a and b

find values for a and b that will make it continuous and differentiable

i have no clue where to even start

Well, to give you a start: The function is obviously differentiable at [math] x \neq 1 [/math]. It's therefore also continuous, there. So the only place where something weird could happen is at x=1. So what are the conditions that the function is continuous and differentiable at x=1? From this constraints, information on a and b should follow.
