DeoxyriboNucleicAcid Posted June 29, 2004 Share Posted June 29, 2004 Can someone please describe a simple (or kindof simple) process for obtaining magnetite in powder or rock, solid, whatever form. Is it true that if I take a magnet and move it around in dark sand from most beaches on the east coast of the U.S., I will have magnetite on the magnet? If so, wouldn't there be other magnetic metals on the magnet, like hematite, etc., and how could I purify this magnetite? Your imput will be greatly appreciated, thanks.
