The classification of brainwaves seem mixed up as the greek letters don't seem to progress with the frequency, or do i miss something?

 

Beta is highest, then alpha, then theta etc. Why is this?

Alpha waves were the first to be discovered. I suspect that the remaining waves were named in order of their discovery.
