dog help

Featured Replies

damnit, never in my life have i ever imagined owning one of those rat dogs.

but evidently my found found one she and my son liked, so now i'm stuck with a chiahuahua(sp?). and naturally i can't say no to them both

anyway, i know that they tend to be pretty aggresive to strangers, but how are they to kids? this pup is only 8months or so and my son was pretty rough to him last night. so i wonder are these dogs pretty good with children? or do i need to get him through some heavy duty training???

any help is much appreciated.

I told photovet97 (he's a real vet) about your question, so hopefully he'll be able to respond.

It's a chihuahua...how dangerous could it be. The dog is more delicate than a kid probably (I'm a mum and I know how rough toddlers can be even though my kids are teenagers now) and I do know that chihuahaus and papillons are very delicate breeds particularly regarding injury. On a purely personal note I regard anything that small as a "rat on a string" as we say here in Scotland. If you're going to have a dog get a real one I say......this is purely my own opinion....I just hate stupid tiny dogs. Feel free to have a pop at me.

totaly agreed. and if it wasn't for the combined efforts of my wife and son, i'd get rid of the little vermin in a heart beat.
