I'm a math student and would like som feedback

Featured Replies

At the present I'm a math student and study one time a week in order to improve my current math studies. I want to be ambitious, but I have had difficulties and I often finds other things more interesting:

I would like your opinions on these so called math notes, they are not intented for a high quality presentation. They illustrate my current work with my studies and some of my problems.

And please, only nice comments. :)

One thing that I notice from a cursory view is that your solutions are written like fractions. I kept wondering why you were ending up with rational expressions until I noticed the pattern.

What are you actually looking for feed back on? As best as I can tell there's just a lot of answers to a lot of exercises.

comments about what?

opinions on Maths, or what your solutions for the exercises?

Thanks for your attention!

The thing I'm after here is your feedback on anything that you would like to give feedback on. Basically: anything you feel about it. Is that a good anwer? :D

Page 40 contains this exercise:

[math](x+1)^2=-25[/math]

[math]x+1=\pm-25[/math]

[math]x=-1\pm-25[/math]

[math]x=-1-25 \textrm{ or } x=-1+25[/math]

[math]x=-26,24[/math] and note probably about complex solution..(?)

What tells you that it hasn't got real solutions?

"There is no solution, in hindsight." GIYF.

Although that's not actually true, there is no real solution but there are solutions - it just happens to have real and imaginary parts. i.e. they're complex numbers. Something that you probably wont be introduced to for a while but may interest you if you want to read around the subject.

There is no real number which when enlarged by one and multiplied by itself ends up being negative.
