chemistry problem

Featured Replies

Alrighty, I was doing my homework and I ran across this problem that I can't figure out, just cyber slap me if this is a really dumb question.

It takes 585 J of energy to raise the temperature of 125.6 g of mercury from 20.0*C to 55.1*C. Calculate the specific heat capacity and the molar heat capacity of mercury.:confused:

OK here goes.

The formula you're looking for is q = m c[math]\Delta[/math]T

The specific heat capacity is c. The molar heat capacity is how much heat it takes to heat up 1 mole of a substance by one degree C.

that help?
