Biomodeling / CAS book reviews

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a Google groups forum for general interest literature related to biomodeling at: http://groups.google.com/group/bebobio?lnk=gschg&hl=en

For book reviews related to complex adaptive systems (CAS) I recommend Susan Stepney's page: http://www-users.cs.york.ac.uk/%7Esusan/index.htm

I think the Book Talk area of this forum is an excellent idea!

Thanks, Randy

Nice, ordinarily I'd get pissed at this kind of thing as being spam, but I happen to have quite an interest in biomodeling (to the point that I started a Wikipedia article on it)

I see biomodeling as a surefire path to computer consciousness, although I'm not going to speculate as to whether or not people will be able to solve the problem before both computing power and biomodeling advance to the point that we can actually simulate an entire human being at the cellular level inside a computer.

I'm not even going to venture a guess as to when that might happen... I'll just say not any time in the immediate future.

Thanks for your response! I'm not really into the idea of computer consciousness, nothing against it either, but my main interest is biomodeling is toward human health and medicine. It's a broad topic, no doubt.

Have you read John Holland's "Hidden Order"?

Are there any books you would recommend?

Thanks again, Randy
