hi there i am a student doing a project on chemiluminescence and need help, there is not very much materials on any aspects except what is being done wiht it, if anyone has any reall info on the history, sceientists current progress in the field or techniques and equiptment involved it would be great if u could share it with me

Search for the term luciferin.. that's the protein responsible for the glow fireflies have... it will lead to lots of info on the subject.

Hydrogen Peroxide is used with many other chems to initiate the light reaction

those are all "wet" reactions, I`m not sure if you`de classify certain metalic sulphides or not though?

u know im only a high school kid tryint to learn so i dun know nothin on declassifyin anything

i also was wonderin in addition to my question of helping me learn if anyone know any simple experiments in which i could demonstrate chemiluninescence

sure, if your teacher will give you Lab access and the chems you`ll need, ask for an ethanedioate ester and some hydrogen peroxide (9 vols should be fine). also an array of different dyes would be good, that way you could make all sorts of colors too

does anyone know wat progress in he field is being made and wat techniques and equiptment is used or created for use in the field

other than "glow-sticks" including the military variety, I know very little with regards to the "wet" technology.

I`m more into doped nano crystals and electro luminessence as a sideline hobby (usualy when bored). so I`ll not be much help there, sorry
