if a u-tube contains absolute alcohol in its 1 limb and pure water in its other limb , both separated by a semi-permeable membrane, then will osmosis occur between the two?(absolute alcohol contains no water molecules)

Depends on the membrane. If its pore size is such that water molecules can pass through, but not alcohol, then there will be osmosis from water to alcohol side.

it probably will as water molecules pass through a semi permeable mebrane, therefore resulting in the high water concentration moving to the alcohol side.
