mass storage OS piggyback

Featured Replies

i have an 80GB storage unit, and i had a few questions as to the potential applications of it. my idea is to partition it and put an OS on it. in theory, i could use my storage device, then load the OS and use applications off of it (internet, games), without school/library/wherever having record of my using them, or the internet history. as i said, this is my theory. would it work, though?

That really depends on the motherboard and bios settings, it could work, but then again if it was my network, it wouldn't work and if I found out anyone trying to do it I would be DEEPLY annoyed...

A live CD would be more likely to work and save you alot of time... And is probably lighter/easier to carry.

why? and how would i do it? would i just put an OS on a CD?

google knoppix. that crams as much as possible(and then some) onto a CD or DVD. quite amazing what you can find on one of those.

the school/library/whatever would be ferrying you're internet traffic to and fro your computer and whatever computer you're contacting remotely, so they'll still know you're looking at porn ;)

that's if it'd work...

encrypted ssh tunnel would work. unless they block all encrypted traffic that is.

i may be a bored, male teenager, but i'm honestly not interested in pornography, or masturbation. i find it to be a waste of time, and there's a lot more i could be doing with my time. at our school, Google image search is blocked because of the rest of my school's degenerate population. it makes it extremely difficult to make a decent Powerpoint during class. also, all forums are blocked. so i wouldn't be able to access this site at school. if you're going to make those sort of comments, you should go to totse. ;)

My school was the same way. They used firefox. Very easy to enter a manual proxy. See if there's any workaround like that for you.

You could always carry around VMware and a VMware image.
