Radio waves

Featured Replies

I`m sure most are aware of the EM (Electro Magnetic) Spectrum.

radio waves start where sound stops (roughly 30Khz).

Radio waves depend on a magnetic feild fluctuation (as does all phenomenon in the EM spectrum).

IF a fixed magnet where to be rotated or physicaly moved at a rate of 30Khz or greater, would it broadcast a carrier wave?

Edit: to aviod confusion as to my question, I`ll try a restate;

If a permanent magnet were to vibrate at 30Khz or above, would it emit R.F (radio frequency) ?

Are you meaning to modulate a simple sine wave on a carrier wave???

not to modulate, as that would involve side oscilations on the 30khz+ freq.

I just mean the carrier, a constant signal being transmitted with no sub signals on the wave :)

To create an electromagnetic wave you have to accelerate a electric charge.

It starts from 0Hz to ?infinity?Hz

But it only starts to travel in air/vacuum if the frequency is high.

So the answer would be Yes it will generate an elektromagnetic wave.

(if you will be able to detect it is an other question.)

well hypotheticly then, if a permanent magnet were to Vibrate against another magnetic feild at say,,, 150Khz a simple LongWave radio receiver should be able to pick it up as a dead carrier (a quiet space, with no white noise as on unused or between station frequencies).

that`s more or less what I though as well, I just wanted some confirmation of this :)

although ANYMORE input from those in this area of science would be welcome! :)
