I think it is about a centimeter. I will check for you

===================

you should learn how to use the google calculator.

it knows "mass of earth" so you dont need to remember the mass of the earth

it knows "G" so you dont have to remember the Newton gravitational constant

it knows "c" so you dont have to remember the speed of light or have the trouble of typing it in, you can just say c.

this is a better kind of calculator I think.

you asked about the formula for the radius of a black hole---for instance so you could find one that would have the same mass as Earth

2GM/c2

so type this into the googlebox

2*G*(mass of earth)/c^2=

If you type just that into the box and press return it will come back with

(2 * G * mass of Earth) / (c^2) = 8.87134507 millimeters

That means that the Schwarzschild radius of the earth is about 9 millimeters. Almost a centimeter.

So a BH with mass of Earth would be about 2 centimeter across

so martin,does that means that if we compress earth to about 1cm radius..it will become a black hole???

yes, for sure

(but I can't imagine how to compress stuff like that)

also if you intend to try it, then I wish you would do it with an asteroid instead
