I prefer the ratings theory.

It's a reluctance to commit to anything that will make them a target for flak from whatever groups have a vested interest in the opposing ideas, combined with the cost of researching and consulting experts.

depending on what you define as an "Alien" one may consider cats and dogs to be such, or these weird bio-luminescent creatures that live kilometers under the Oceans (some sure don`t look like earth dwellers! LOL)

if the word "Alein" is solely defined as Extra-Terestrial then I think personaly we`re in for alot of dissapointment for a VERY long time! and that includes this Spock type dude
