If you had half the bars comming up from the floor and half coming down from the top of the door you could reduce the vibrations, and if you mounted the whole thing in a big several foot thick rubber gasket it would quiet down quite a bit...

and it would be cool to sit in front of it and drink heavily and throw stuff into it :)

Since we light buildings with 60 cycle flourescent lights, we are actually being strobed 60 times a second and in the dark 60 times a second.

But this light bounces around the room between cycles, yes?

60 cycles a second is pretty fast considering we can't move our hand or body that fast in a vibrating motion, so i would have to say that to get sliced and diced is only going to happen if you run into the door at full sprint. but in you just slowly stick you hand into it you'd get little pieces of youself cut off untill you pulled you hand, head, leg, or whatever away.
