does anyone know how to make .bat files for start up....

namely i want the startup screen to be covered up... u know where it counts up ram and the like. i want it to be covered up by a picture of marvin

btw i'm running win 98 and my com starts up in msdos

ok, I asked a mate this question, If you want right at the begining then no you cant, as that`s the BIOS that does the mem test. yer .bat file doesn`t kick in till after according to him. so if you want before this then you`ll need to re-flash your bios chip (DON`T do this!!!).

he say`s the screen that says Windows 98 you can change though. you need a 16 color image, and he thinks it`s 640x480 (he`s not sure).

then you can save it into the windows DIR, but you need to give it a special name.

search the net for changing win89 slpash screen.

that`s the best I got for you. here`s the transcrpt......

Darkness> right at the very beginning?

<YT2095> yup

<YT2095> seems that way

<Darkness> erm

<YT2095> it don`t look at the bat file does it then?

<Darkness> iirc thats the motherboard

<YT2095> that`s the bios

<Darkness> yeah

<Darkness> you'll need to look/ask on the manufacturers website

<YT2095> how `bout after tho?

<Darkness> erm

<Darkness> the screen that says windows 98 starting up you can change

<YT2095> how?

<Darkness> you need a 16 colour image

<Darkness> cant remember the size 640x480 i htink

<Darkness> but then you need to save it somewhere in the windows directory i think

<Darkness> but you need to give it a special name

<Darkness> just search the net for changing win98 splash screen.

hope that helps a little?
