is there a way for a pro-hormone to still

have some activity if one were to make a minor adjustment in the structure resulting a different/slight different chemical name without sacrificing too much of the effect/bioavailability.

 

Examples would be very helpful!

Well I'm unsure what a "pro-hormone" is but with my experiance with molecular biology, details count. Many diseases arise from a protein having a slightly different structure or some arcane obscure enzyme having some minor modification. So, I would venture that a change, even minor, would affect the preformance but I certainly could be wrong. Insteresintg idea though.

Details do count, but it depends completely on what part you're manipulating. for starters, you'd have to leave the functioning end alone (to not change the way it communicates with the cell.
