Nail Polish and Methanol

I was cleaning some glassware in the lab today with methanol and got some on my hands. I had just put fresh nail polish on that morning and after the exposure to the methanol, there was a white film all over my nails. It comes off with a bit of scratching but I was just wondering if any of you knew what was causing this.
