Physics Question

Featured Replies

I dont know the first thing about physics, thats why Im assuming this thread is in the wrong place. BUT a friend of mine was asking about the following question. I dont know the answer but couldnt think of a smarter bunch of folks to ask...

so:

A 2.40kg piece of wood (specific gravity = 0.50) floats on water. What minimum mass of steel, hung from it by a string, will cause it to sink?

Any help is appreciated, but no obligations of course. Im sure you have better things to do then answer questions that wont benefit you. :D

Ive never taken physics but is it 2.4 kg of steel?
