Hey guys, my first post here. I hope this turns out to be some descent forums.

 

Does anybody know the name of the curve that is represented by:

 

x + 1

y =... ------------ ...= y

(x + 2)(x - 1)

It creates a curve like this.

I've never seen this type of curve classified, personally. You might want to consider using LaTeX for the typesetting, it's much easier than ascii

 

[math]y = \frac{x+1}{(x+2)(x-1)}[/math]

You must have seen my little counter balancing ... = y. How do I use MathML, if that is what it is?

We use LaTeX... you can find a guide in the General Maths forums at the top of the page.

It's quite easy, in this case it'd be

y = \\frac{x+1}{(x+2)(x-1)}

in [math] tags.
