Why was the bartender in "Passengers" the most advanced piece of technology on board. Like really, every piece of equipment that these guys were interacting with was horrible, worse than present day equipment and much less user friendly. Food machines spitting cookies, Telephone charging you 1 000 000$ to deliver SOS message. I know it's for comedic effect but.... It was just bad.

Yeah, good point on a lot of that. The bartender was actually a character, and I quite enjoyed him by the way. But I agree with you, and on the reason also - I think it was to inject "light comedy."
