All manner of applied maths uses tensors in that sense (stress strain etc). And we in pure have a similar though stirctly speaking different thing too.

It'd be nice if someone could show us some simple calculations using tensors ;)

matt, since you seem to know what they are and you are a resident expert, could you please tell us what they are and how they are used? as mezarashi said, some calculations would be nice as well(that is if [math]\LaTeX[/math] is working).
