I have question on using an alternate valve in a project I'm doing. I using a pressurized fuel chamber to make a fire saber. My question is do I have to use the SGE syringe valve 031915 or could I use a Solenoid Valve instead

It needs to withstand pressure of around 20 psi

 

SGE valve that I did propose was a lab grade valve which had a button to open and close it, however the opening and closing is not an issue neither is how fast the valve can open and close

 

It just need to withstand 20 psi of pressurized methanol

If that is the only requirement, just use what is cheap and available.
