  1. Can we define philosophy? And pin it to the top of the forum, like they did with the definition of god.
  2. We are moving around on a planet that is moving, in a moving belt, part of many spiral belts, in a moving galaxy, moving through empty space, in a soup of other moving galaxy's. How can you measure absolute speed if nothing in the universe is standing still to use as a point of reference? I think if we could ever pin point the exact location the "Big Bang" erupted from, it would be a logical point to base absolute velocity. Since the point of detonation isn't a physical object, it doesn't move. The trick is how to you rewind the clock, and put Humpty Dumpty back together to find where it all began. How do you locate the point of origin?
  3. I apologize for insulting StarWars, I do kinda like the original trilogy more than startrek, but I'm on the fence with both of them after all the damn remakes. Originals are good. I was referring to "the force" as being god. As an example of a non livening thing that does all the stuff a traditional god would be credited for doing. Just food for thought, there was a thread about, the definition of god, and I don't really have a definition for god, it's like that quantum physics stuff, it's there but it's not, it's up and down at the same time, god could be anything, or nothing, so I don't know how to argue any real points about something we don't know. It's like arguing about what a blank hole looks like... Human eyes cannot see black holes, it's a hole, it's the lack of things to see, In fact if you looked at empty space, you'd see more, because a black holes isn't just empty, it's less than empty, it's negative. But at its center it is Infinitely dense. If my argument still makes sense to you, you must be smoking something awesome! But that's why I compare god to such things as black holes and the Big Bang, massive phantom forces like "the force" from StarWars, that appear to come from nothing, like a god. You cannot argue about whether those forces exist. So what are people really arguing? I've never heard someone say god is or isn't a black hole or claim that "he" is the force that dropped the apple on Newton's head. I suppose you can argue that black holes don't exist. After all, it's only a theory, but you can't say god didn't or did have anything to do with it. It's like arguing about a glass that is filled precisely at the half mark, if it is half empty or half full. It could be either one. What other info can you bring to the table to change the balance? Before I post anymore, I'm going to give you a break to light your pipe, and contemplate wtf I just wrote. Cuz I'm making these examples up as I go along.
  4. Backward no, for many reasons, but clocks move slower at the speed of light, that might not be time travel, but then again, we are all traveling at the 1 sec per second unless you found a slower moving object in which case if what is true of clicks moveing slower at high speed then the opposite is true at extreme slow speeds, but how do you measure speed if nothing is standing still? Lol so many typos, don't even bother reading my post again. I don't know what I'm talking about. I just remember hearing something about time slowing down when you approach the speed of light, but time may not actually be slowing, maybe your perception of time slows. IDK Is there anyone educated on this who can save me from eternal rambling Btw if you are moving near the speed of light, couldn't you launch a projectile at a high vilocity, and with your combined velocities break the speed of light? After all, the universe is already moving pretty fast, as is the earth, who is to say how fast we are going with no fixed points to measure from. If the earth was moving near the speed of light, couldn't we launch from earth at that speed+ I know there must be a reason why we can't but logically it makes no sense.
  5. I'm pro nuclear. Sure it's dangerous when things go wrong, but so is air travel. As long as you don't forget the dangers, it's an amazing power sourse.
  6. If nothing can ever reach 0k would that not mean that no matter how much the universe decomposes, after all the stars have died, it can never truly go blank.

    Stopping Light

    What??? 😳 What??? 😳
  8. Here is a idea to blow your mind. Who says god is alive. We as humans relate to much with our home planet, we forget that 99.999999% of the universe is not earth. Who says god is a he or she, OR EVEN AN IT. What if god was just an unconches force, like that Jedi garbage form "StarWars" what if god wasn't alive but simply exists in the form of the physical world we see around you. We know what gravity is, we know what atoms are, but why? Why do they exist, why do they attract and repel, what is the force behind all this. Humans have been looking for a guy in a white cloak for 3000 years, but what they are really looking for could be contained in every atom of their body. What was the Big Bang? Just a random bang? Or another unexplained force? Nothing is random, Random is a lazy way to explain something, that's like saying its magic. It's not magic, it's misunderstood. If there is a god or not, it changes nothing, because we don't know anything about god either way. What we argue today isn't whether god exists or not, it's whether or not our idea and definition of god is correct. The same battle that has been waged by every religious group since the beginning of recorded history, Jews vs Christians vs Muslims vs Hindus vs atheists vs tribes from every corner of the earth, but all they know is what's on this earth, they know nothing about what lies beyond earth, so the whole argument is stupid, no matter what side you are on. No one can win. I hate when it posts multiple times, can a moderator please erase the duplicate posts? If possible...sorry, it's some sort of glitch, I'm using an out of date iPod touch. The original first gen touchpad. It doesn't like formatting for Internet applications. It's only strength is fruit ninja.
  9. I was interested in this as a form or laser that could be used for daytime night time lazed tag. The problem with all the lazer tag guns on today's market is that there are no standards regarding frequency, laser type, or receiver types. No two lazer gun brands are compatible. All paintball guns use the same Ammo, as do airsoft guns. But the only good laser tag guns available are either for military training, or commercially rented out in arenas. You can't own one yourself, and if you did, your buddy would have to buy the exact same model or else they'd be incompatible. Looking at R/C cars, the controllers work on different frequencies, to prevent competator's remote controls from mixing signals. If these radio waves could be focused into a beam, the same standard technology, or a modified version of it, could be used in a lazer gun. If people could change the frequency if thier lazer tag rifle as easily as R/C enthusiasts change frequencies with thier remote control planes and cars, then it wouldn't matter what brand of lazer gun you buy. It would open a whole new recreational market. No more paint, no more CO2, or BBs, no more safety goggles, NO MORE PAIN. And lazers can travel incredible distances, if focused accurately. This means marksmanship can finally be attributed with recreational war games. Paint ball and Airsoft can't do that. Regardless to what technology is used for the lazer, so long as it can operate in daylight, the important thing is to set standards for the manufacturing of these toy rifles, so they can be used competatively. It's an idea me and another Airsoft enthusiast came up with after a comment was made about how silly an Airsoft sniper rifle is: At a max of 500 FPS, the strongest Airsoft guns cannot operate beyond 100yrds. Besides, even at that, 500FPS is so strong and painful to be shot with, it's banned from most organized Airsoft tournaments. Lazer tag rifles don't shoot any projectiles, so they are 100% harmless, and don't leave used ammo slewn about the woods. And lasers travel incredibly far, so a lazer tag rifle would make a great sniper rifle. All those mil-sim geeks could actually simulate a war at more than 50 ft! Much more challenging if you ask me. But there is no market open for it yet. No one takes lazer tag seriously like they do paintball. Even though for the reason I just explained it is so much better. I can only assume that the technology must not be there for no one to have thought of this before me. Also while thinking army, if a radio message could be focused into a beam, it could be beamed from location to location without worry of enemies listening in, or intercepting them, because the only way to intercept the message is to place your receiver directly in the path of the beam. The Navy already has a sound wave laser. It focuses sound waves into a beam, allowing them to blow the ears off pirates and unwanted intruders without lethal force. These same sound lasers have seen service in crowd control during riots. They can broadcast messages at different decibel levels at any range, you can whisper in someone's ear from a mile away, or blast a siren and no one outside the path of the laser would hear a peep! The Air Force had plans for a microwave laser to melt and destroy ICBMs in mid flight. Though I have not heard a word about that project in years. There are lasers made from just about any form of wave out there. What I want to know is; What would it take to make a compact radio wave laser? What other types of waves have not been made into lasers yet?
  10. As pathetic as battery's may be compared to petrol engines, At the rate technology is advanceing... It wasn't that long ago that steam power was the only form of mechanization. In my late great grandfather's lifetime (1914-2013) He saw the end of two World Wars, the last civil war vet, the entire Cold War, and the atomic age, the entire space program from Von brown to Neil Armstrong, to Shuttle Discovery. He may have forgotten in his last days some details do to him being so damn old, But in his golden years, he remembered all of it. With some historic perspective, things aren't that bleak. I can definitely see battery's evolving to a tolerable performance level. All that's left is finding out an affective way to charge and manufacture them. My iPod is lagging.
