  1. It says 3 times a number, we denote the number as variable x, so we multiply 3 to x and get 3x. The next set words says "and 11", note and means addition or add and the first words says "the sum". Is equal to 32 so we equate it to 32. here it goes 3x + 11 = 32, thus 3x + 11 - 11 = 32 - 11 3x = 21, dividing both sides by 3 you get 7 Substitute it to original equation to check your answer: 3(7) + 11 = 32 ----> 21 + 11 =32 -----> 32 = 32, correct
  2. the actual formula for this is ΔP = wh or simply pressure differential is equal to specific weight x height, where specific weight is density times gravity. actually lb/ft3 is not standard and should be converted to slugs/ft3 to get actual density by dividing it by gravitational constant, 32.174, and getting 0.002378 which is the standard density at sea level. Note if you use the equation without converting it units will not cancel out, such that h = delta P/rho x g which g has a unit of time, second, which cannot cancel out unless you convert the 0.075 lb/ft3 into slugs/ft3. Doing so h = ΔPg/ρg, both g or gravity will cancel out thus you get h as ΔP/ρ.
  3. 9) Given that [ SIN X= -2 SQUARED/2 ] and that Cos(x) is negative, find the orther functions of (x) and the value of (x). The question number 9 seems tricky, since cosine and sine are cofunctions, maybe it looks for other trigonometric function that satisfies the answer such as csc and sec noting that it says value of x meaning only one value of x of every function but (-2)2 divided by 2 is 2 and it is not possible to get 2 for cosine and sine functions in a unit circle since answer ranges only from -1 to 1 and only functions such as tangent can get numbers above and below -1 and 1. There is something wrong with the question maybe its square root of -2 over 2? Try consulting your instructor again for that question. Even you put huge number to x at cos(x) you will never get numbers above 1 or below negative 1 as an answer.
