  1. Okay if I could change the title I would rename it "we are all broken, not just people who believe in God" (long title I know lol) I've been an atheist before and I was most certainly broken, and when I found God I felt less broken.
  2. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. - John 9:2-3 Some of the happiest people I've ever meet are people with disabilities. Many of them do the work of God and inspire people to be greatful for what they have.
  3. Well Jesus was an historical person. + adults believe in Jesus, only kids believe in the tooth fairy and zeus (and crazy people lol). 1) We can get rid of all gods that we can understand. Because a god we can understand would be a man-made god. (This gets rid alot of other gods.) How great is God--beyond our understanding! The number of his years is past finding out. – Job 36:26 (many other verses) 2) We can get rid of gods that have died out. 3) We can get rid of gods that are copied from other gods. Google "Was Jesus a Copy of Horus, Mithras, Krishna, Dionysus and Other Pagan Gods?" From here we are left with a handful of gods and I think Jesus would be the most logical choice. But I think we should stick on topic. So it's settled. People who don't beleve in God are broken. We are all Broken.
  4. I think people who believe in God are no more broken than people who don't believe in God. Infact I think they're less broken.
  5. I don't know a single person that isn't broken in some sort of way. I think people who believe in God and have faith are less broken. I don't have as much faith as I use to and I have made many mistakes. I feel more broken because I'm further away from God. It's not that I am "missing the community aspect of religious practice". I was never big on that anyway.
  6. I never said it was evidence for God. It is evidence that people who believe in God arn't broken. I felt so alive... Now I'm kinda broken because I've drifted away.
  7. When I went to my youth convention (during Christmas break) I really grew a lot in my faith. The first night I dedicated my Life to God, and was overwhelmed with peace/love and clarity. I let down my defenses and really started to love people. I didn't have to put up a front, I was just myself. The last day of the convention I had been watching youtube parodies. That night I didn’t feel the same, I wasn’t connecting, and I couldn’t feel his presence like I did the other nights. I began to think “maybe I don’t even know God” Just as I had that thought the speakers blew up really loud. People around me jokingly said “it’s a sign from God”, but it was. The second I denied him it happened. The only times I feel "broken" is when I'm away from God. Kinda like lately :/
  8. How many years would it take to become one? (I will research on my on as well) The Phlebotomy – Laboratory Assistant program is a nine-month diploma program. You only make roughly $10 when first starting out, but it seems like a good job for me. I need to make up my mind fast because I only have 2 more weeks to make up my mind. Does anyone else know of any cool jobs that only take up to 2 years to get a diploma for?

  10. I'm guessing you didn't read the Bible verses I gave at the top of this thread. I'm pretty sure the preist and the Levite were both wrong and the atheist did what was right and probally has a way better chance of getting into heaven then the other 2.
  11. What kind of job takes a persons blood and analysis it to see if there's anything wrong with the person? I think that would be a cool job.
  12. There are two views among Christians about hell. On one side you can stack quite a few Scriptures that talk about the wicked perishing in hell, they die, they’re consumed, and they are no more. Then there are some Scriptures that I feel are more nebulous, where it talks about Satan being tormented day and night forever and ever in the lake of fire. When you put all these Scriptures side by side, it seems like the bulk of evidence is on the side that the wicked are not immortalized in hell. So that's not me ;P
  13. Yes, but I said that was wrong of me and we need to judge after we get to know the person. That goes for religion/atheism, skin color, gay/straight/bi, language, ect. I know I will live a happier life when I learn to be kind and respectful to everyone, and so will everyone else.
  14. Can anyone control there dreams? I kinda did last night towards the end of it right before I woke up. (I don't remember the dream now, but I know I controled it towards the end)
  15. Some people live in areas where they are more likely to be tought there is a multiverse. Other places teach there students there is only 1 universe, and yet other places don't even know what a universe and multiverse is. The only thing that matters is the truth. It doesn't matter that if you live in a certain place you might be more likely to believe in a certain thing. It doesn't change truth.
  16. Sorry if I made it seem like atheist was a religion, that wasn't my attentions at all. Atheist = lack of a belelif. I There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.- Galatians 3:28 Also oldtestament = Jeremiah 7:6, Leviticus 19:34, Exodus 23:9, Deuteronomy 23:16, Leviticus 19:33, Deuteronomy 10:19, Deuteronomy 27:19,
  17. I have noticed I tend to be prejudice against atheist and other religions. I've been working on both lately. To overcome my prejudice against I remembered Luke 10:25-37 The Parable of the Good Samaritan. It goes like this... 25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” 27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” 28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” 29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ 36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” 37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.” I've noticed some atheist tend to be prejudice against religious people as well. We both need to work on this and not judge until we get to know the person.
  18. Watch George Ellis talk about problems with the M-verse.

  20. Imagine you're being dragged before a firing squad of one hundred trained marksmen to be executed. The command is given: "Ready! Aim! Fire!" You hear the deafening roar of the guns. But then you observe that you're still alive, that all the one hundred trained marksmen missed! You're telling me you would say, "The chances of the bullets missing are 1:1 because I'm alive! Let's not even look into why they missed" A logical approach would be to find out why the bullets missed or in the case of fine-tuning why these constants are so fine-tuned. The odds clearly wern't 1:1.
  21. Well yes it did happen, now we have to ask why. Why out of increditable odds did a life substaining universe form by chance? Or could it be that there is a fine-tuner. I've already pointed this out many times, but since people keep bringing it up I will say this again. There is currently no experimental evidence in support of the M-verse "hypothesis". While there is some support in physics for string theory and inflationary cosmology, they are currently provisional and highly speculative. However I actually believe the multiverse exists, but is insufficient in accounting for the fine-tuning of the laws of nature. (see links) http://sententias.org/2013/01/19/do-multiverse-scenarios-solve-the-problem-of-fine-tuning/ http://arxiv.org/pdf/0801.0246.pdf Also about the never ending cycle of universes (cyclic universe). The new Planck data render many cyclic models, including the ekpyrotic universe, a lot less likely. A lack of non-Gaussianities in the CMB spectrum rules out the conversion mechanism required by most cyclic models.
  22. There are many atheist that find the evidence for fine-tuning convincing. You must remember fine-tuning doesn't = designed. Paul Davies, Luke Barnes, Martin Rees, John Barrow, Frank Tipler, Don N. Page, John A. Wheeler, Roger Penrose, David Jonathan, Luboš Motl, Peter Woit, Arno Penzias, Dr Dennis Scania, Francis Collins, Karl W. Giberson, Peter Harrison, Andrei Linde, Hugh Ross, Frank A. Wilczek, Dr. David Deutsch, Michael Turner, Lee Smolin, George Ellis, Alan Sandage, George Greenstein, Robin Collins, Tony Rothman, Vera Kistiakowsky, Ed Harrison, John Gribbin all say the universe is fine-tuned. Half of those guys are atheist/agnostic. I just think God is the best explanation for the fine-tuning. I do it like this... The fine-tuning is either because of chance, physical necessity, or God. The numbers we see rules out chance. I rule out physical neccisity by saying Physicist Stephen Hawking says, "It appears that the fundamental numbers, and even the form, of the apparent laws of nature are not demanded by logic or physical principle.” Also you would have to believe that a life-prohibiting universe is physically impossible, but a life-prohibiting universe is logically possible and there is no evidence suggesting otherwise. Saying the universe had to take a form suitable for life is ridiculous, which is why physical necessity has few, if any supporters. Also if the constants can't be moved, we can use that as an argument for God as well. If the "only" way the universe could be is life supporting, out of all the other logically possible ways it could be, it could be used as an argument for God. After all scientist have always tried to say "we arn't the purpose of the universe". If physical necessity turns out to be true, than those scientist might be wrong. After chance and physical necessity is out of the way, we are left with God. “The happy coincidences between life’s requirements and nature’s choices of parameter values might be just a series of flukes, but one could be forgiven for beginning to suspect that something deeper is at work”. - Wilczek. It’s not a god-of-the-gaps, fine-tuning is leading to God.
  23. It doesn't mean they're theist. There are many atheist that agree with fine-tuning. Even if they are theist, that doesn't mean they're wrong.
  24. How do you know they are theistic cosmologists? Even if they are, shouldn't we judge based off what they say and the evidence they provide, Not weither they are atheist/theist? Let people look at the evidence he provided and judge for themselves. http://letterstonature.wordpress.com/2013/08/01/fine-tuning-and-the-myth-of-one-variable-at-a-time/
