  1. This is a question that requires some practical knowledge. I've looked through the literature (Google Scholar, SciFinder, etc.), and I simply cannot find hard data on this, which is frustrating. How soluble is sodium chloride/bromide in dichloromethane? Obviously it's not very soluble at all, but I'm looking to do a salt metathesis that depends on it being very insoluble. The other salt that will form in this metathesis should be very soluble in DCM and may stay insolution with a little toluene added, which I could use to suppress the solubility of the NaCl/Br. All reactions will be carried out in anhydrous conditions. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any direct experience with this.
