  1. I haven't heard from him in awhile. I kinda miss his interesting retorts. Is he ok? Bettina
  2. He's not. He is simply one that doesn't understand and has taken a dislike for me, so I had to place him on my ignore list. I will talk to you later about your other post. Bettina
  3. Because I'm afraid of what they might find... Bettina
  4. I understand you Phi, but I'm unsure if your correct. I just don't know. But bottom line for the Aruba girl. She was 18 years old, on a beach in Aruba drinking with another young person having a good time. How often would she get another chance to be in Aruba. What would you have done if you had the chance to go to a beach in Aruba with a beautiful girl? Would you have done anything differently? Would you have gone to the beach with the girl if she asked you? The time of night was irrelevent. What she didn't know, was that she was with a predator. One with killer instincts. Why do guys do this? Bettina
  5. I'm not being sarcastic because your a lot smarter than me, but I want to know how you believe the media should report a child abduction and the progress that is being made in his/her recovery. I agree about the fire and flood stories, but give me some example of how the media "distorts" stories of abductions. I don't see any of that but maybe I'm not looking. Sorry to knock this off topic. Bettina
  6. I disagree with you big time on this...... Because of the justice system it IS everywhere......and I'm glad the press puts everyone of them in the news. I don't care if they make money on it or not. I want parents to be reminded to keep there kids on a tight leash and watch them even on there own porches. Just my opinion. Bettina
  7. What you said above is correct and I understand where your coming from.....but only if we live in a perfect world, and ONLY if the offense does not involve a minor. The offense against minors will more often than not lead to a repeat offense. There is a hard lesson being learned everyday. Everytime I read the news about a girl being killed, it seems that it was at the hands of a repeat offender. This means that the court psychologists are not capable of determining who should be let out and who should stay in. Either they are incompetent, being pressured by the lawyers, or this whole psychology field is plain bogus which I am tending to believe lately. I don't want to hijack this thread, but how do you tell the difference between a "cured" child sex offender, and one who is not. They are very good actors as you can see by the amount of children being killed. How do you tell... and....I'm not fighting with u dak... Bettina
  8. I saw a friends dad measuring the air coming out of his air conditioner. I remembered this post and asked him why he was doing that. He said he was looking for the temperature difference between the cold air coming out and the warm air going in and explained to me that it has to be between 15 to 20 degrees difference. Any less than that means the AC isn't working properly. Hope that helps... Bettina
  9. It was intended as a hypothetical question. A "what if" (my two favorite words) scenario..... I also believe humans came from one lineage. A single mutation from a pair of apes. From that single mutation, others came, mutating into several species like Homo rudolfensis, Homo habilis, etc. Then, as time went on, all but one of these species died out. The one with the bigger brain survived. Anyway, I wanted to know what the chances were for that happening again if some "magical pulse" wiped out all human life. Another thought....There could be planets out there like ours....blue skys, atmosphere, water, animal and plant life......yet no human life evolved. We were lucky I think...... Bettina
  10. Could you clarify this? I know the oceans contain about 3.5% salt, and was told it will get saltier as time passes because salt constantly enters the oceans and it does not "evaporate". I know you didn't mean it the way you stated, so what did you mean. Bettina
  11. And she deserves a link. Quite a lady. Thanks for the name. http://www.sdsc.edu/ScienceWomen/franklin.html Bettina
  12. What I get are similar. Here is one of tons of articles I collected. http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn4638 Bettina
  13. I wear them to block UV. They are also polarized to block glare so I can look clearly into the park pool where I work. I can see kids underwater. I also use them to check out boys with sunglasses. They wonder if I'm looking back Bettina
  14. Explains it all.... http://www.pa.msu.edu/sci_theatre/ask_st/122194.html Bettina
  15. As I was lying in bed, I thought of this....Lets say some scientific satellite experiment in space went wrong and sent a human killing pulse thru the planet earth which killed every single human on the planet. Not one was spared and humankind was 100% gone. Now we have a planet that has oceans, blue skys, beautiful sunsets, trees, animals, plant life, etc, but no humans. Since there are presently some 15 million to 100 million species on earth but only one species able to post this question, what do you think would be the chances of humans ever populating the planet again. Bettina
  16. How come it doesn't say "banned" on his name. He didn't seem like a troublemaker to me. Bettina
