The question is in the title
Here is what i mean
What stops it from just falling in a straight(ish) line? because as you can see it moves a fair distance from where it was dropped

What do you guys think to this?

well... this was an interesting read.
What is the answer i should trust then?
@
OphioliteNo worries, i have got my answer and this seems the most plausible to me
Sometimes it's not really about how lightly you sleep. It's about the kind of noise you heard. If it's the house settling, or a family member moving about, normal noises, these often don't wake us up because they're part of a normal pattern. But if the same amount of noise comes from an unfamiliar source, our pattern-recognition capabilities reject it and we come awake.
The other possibility with the poster falling is that one edge came undone, making a noise that was out of place (tape coming off the wall, the poster sliding along the wall at an angle) that woke you up so you could then hear the poster fall all the way to the ground, making it seem like you woke up before the incident even started.

True, thanks

Acme, the question is hypothetical therefore I am only interested in what is the possibility if it did happen. Unlike in movies.
As for other members.. thanks for your answers

We'll in that case I have found science's unanswered questions then. Thanks though

So as a result of this can we deduce that I am a fairly light sleeper?

Was told to make this separate thread

Very interesting, thank you

Thanks for the answers! Sorry i don't make a thread each question; i do have a lot of questions...
I have a pretty good understanding now
However.. still don't understand number 5.
It is the fact that i actually wake up randomly, literally nothing has provoked the wakeup but then second later, something happens

Thanks for the answers however still unsure on the 3rd question.. what was actually the first living thing? where did the first ancestor of humans come from?

why do allergies exist?

1. How does something like this happen? http://www.bbc.co.uk...europe-26764929
2. What is the closest thing to a dinosaur now?
3. Where did humans come from? Could we have come from plant mutations? In that case, where did plants come from too?

1. Will hover cars ever happen?
2. Where is anti matter stored and how does one know it is anti matter?
3. How do bladeless fans work?
4. How do i predict what i will see on tv? This is really strange, i think of an episode of a series randomly and then within the next few days i am watching it on tv. No force made.
5. Why do i wake up before something happens?E.g. a poster falling down. I don't know it is going to happen but there i am, suddenly awake lying there wondering why i am awake and then 5 seconds later, the poster falls down

1. What would happen if the earth were to stop rotating?
2. What happens in a black hole? My theory is that nothing actually disappears but rather breaks up into millions of pieces and therefore seems like something has disappeared
3. Will it ever be possible to cut through the centre of the earth? E.g. from australia to japan

I have some questions that i really would like to know the answer to. Please be as detailed as possible and justify and conclusions. Thanks

Apparently some work has been done with dragonflies and hyperoxia. Most spiders, however, seem to be locked into a certain size limitation by how quickly the tracheal system expands as the body expands. They get to a point where they're too big to breathe properly, or rather the trachea can't keep up with the rest of the body.
thanks. Never knew that! Can you get me an article or something with pics about the dragonfly?

Spiders use gas diffusion to breath, so there size is limited by the percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere. In Earth's history there was a period of a much higher percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere than now and accordingly spiders were able to grow larger.
so in theory we could make a massive spider? How about we just put the sydney funnel web with those levels of oxygen or more. Then we could have a massive, scary and poisonous spider! Yey! lol

i read from a rather stupid youtube comment that it makes spiders massive with lots of oxygen?
in terms of music and goosebumps, could it have something to do with dopamine?

What would happen if...
1. There was no gravity for 10 seconds?2. you put a spider in a container and pump it up with huge amounts of oxygen?
3. you put spider dna in a human. Theoretically you make spiderman?
Now a few other questions
1. Why do we get goosebumps on a really good part of a song?
2. Why do males get the "morning erection" sometimes?
3. How do ice comets work? If they are travelling so fast, surely they should be on fire and lose ice?
Please answers sensibly. If it isn't too hard please go into detail and justify certain conclusions.Don't ask why i ask these. These are just some of many questions that i do or will wonder..Thanks0
