      It seems that the endocrine system is more like a variable that both controls and is varied by the modules? Sounds rather like a feedback system.

      Come to think of it, wouldn't it be better to think of the endocrine system as a set of variables, one for each hormone. Each variable being able to accept alteration as demanded by a module?
