  1. sounds like every girl ive ever known... it seems like all girls go crazy every so often, (usually once a month) even the "sane" ones. the girl i am with has a pretty interesting history too. including drug abuse, eating disorders, social problems, and a suicide attempt. Its true that she can be unpredictible, but i think she has grown out of it and i really enjoy her company. so just try your best not to piss her off, thats what i do.
  2. in order to get good acid, do the batteries need to be charged? or can they be old discarded dead ones from the back of pep boys?
  3. i have heard that eye color does affect vision... for example, why do athletes smear that black stuff under their eyes? to reduce light glare. i think that the pigment may have the same effect. The point is that what i heard was dark colored eyes may be able to see better than lighter colored eyes due to the reduced glare. I dont know how true this is and I will have to suspend judgement on this one.
  4. yeah, maybe i can still snatch the X Prize ! that would have to be one strong casing and nozzle design.
  5. yes, i agree. flash powder is not the stuff to use for rockets, but i didnt have any bp laying around and i figured that fp would be better for the video anyways. speaking of bp, does anyone know where to get some good charcoal for bp, all the stuff at local bbq stores is made from hardwoods and therefore not very reactive at all.
  6. ive tried it before with a kit i bought called "Mr. Beer" it is a kindof lame kit but it came with everything i needed to brew some beer, and it got me drunk too! takes about 1-3 months to brew. More sugar = more alcohol usually and you need to use good yeast. dont add the yeast when the wort (sugar, hops, and barley mix) is too hot, wait for it to cool to lukewarm temp first. let it brew in a vented container for at least a month, then put a teaspoon of sugar in each bottle before you bottle it, let it brew in the bottles for another 2-4 weeks and your ready to drink. the whole process should be kept at room temp otherwise it may slow the reaction if it gets too cold, or kill the yeast if it gets too hot. I am also going to attempt to brew up some mash to distill into moonshine soon but i have yet to make the still for it. http://www.angelfire.com/un/rocketman
  7. Yeah, its a true story, and i know how lucky i am. I couldnt believe my eyes when i stopped to see what all the white powder was on the side of the road... I have been using KNO3 to make rocket fuel for awhile now and even have a website to document my experiments. check it out: http://www.angelfire.com/un/rocketman Most of the KNO3 will probably end up as rocket fuel, but i might try making nitric acid with it.
  8. I figured out a way to make a cheap, easy, and reliable electric ignitor from old christmas tree lights. I documented the process on my website with a video of the test. for the test i used too much flash powder and a fairly powerful explosion resulted. the amount of powder i used is unknown, only a pinch, but i guess a little goes a loooooong way. Hope i didnt piss off my neighbors too much. to see the pictures and video go to http://www.angelfire.com/un/rocketman and click on "Christmas tree bulb ignitor"
  9. If I hypothetically found 200+ lbs of fertlizer grade kno3 crystals in broken bags, which fell off a farm truck, on the side of a road last weekend and brought the stuff home in trash bags... What possible uses does KNO3 have besides the common pyro BP and sugar mixtues? What could i make out of 200 pounds of KNO3? I have heard that Nitric acid can be made from it, but where would i get the conc. H2SO4? Pb car batteries maybe? What other neat stuff can be synthesized from a large amount of KNO3? It seems to be very pure based on some testes i have conducted.
  10. I was reviewing my MSDS that came with my order of KCLO4 and noticed a bold warning stating "Forms explosive mixtures with alcohols." Are we talking about a spontanious reaction or what? It also states "may produce fatal aplastic anaemia and other blood disorders" so how careful should i be with this stuff? This is extremely fine powder and becomes airborne very easily. Should i use a respirator, goggles, and gloves when handling this stuff? This MSDS can be found at http://physchem.ox.ac.uk/MSDS/PO/potassium_perchlorate.html BTW this stuff is awesome when mixed with pyro grade Al powder in a 70/30 ratio or so. Produces a bright flash and burns in millisecs. But whats the deal with mixing with sulphur? I have seen sulphur + KCLO4 in flash power and star formulas without any warnings. Should i try it?
  11. sorry for the late reply, the core is a bore hole about the width of the nozzle all the way through, i make the nozzle out of some concrete type stuff called "pourstone" availiable at home depot. the only engines i have flown were basicially large bottle rockets with 3 foot 3/8 inch wooden dowels and a large pvc rocket engine taped to the end, i even cast a fuse and an ariel shell full of flash powder to the top of one and it worked beautifully. It flew almost out of sight and the flash and smoke was seen 5+ seconds before i heard it. im sure i could calculate the altitude based on the sound delay but i never tried to figure it out. http://www.angelfire.com/un/rocketman i havent updated in awhile, but a big update is comming soon! any ideas for future rockets would be greatly appreciated
  12. I think you guys might be interested in my website about home made rocket engines. http://www.angelfire.com/un/rocketman It is currently in early stages of development but more expirements and videos will follow soon. You might find the "Early PVC failures" and "Large PVC static test" particularly interesting. All my engines are designed by trial and error as appearant in the early failures video. My ultimate goal is to build a cheap, reuseable, sub orbital launch vehicle using very large "Rocketcandy" motors. Please email me with any comments and suggestions or sign my guestbook on the site.
