  1. Isn't bedwetting and cruelty to animals a common trait among serial killers ? That boy needs some kind of intervention, and soon, because the community he's in runs the risk of having a Ted Bundy on their hands.
  2. 1veedo, I agree with you 100%. Why should it be illegal for me to make a backup copy of a DVD that I paid for ? I bought DVD XCOPY some years ago to backup my existing DVD collection. Now I have to disconnect from the net(and my FTP as well) in order to use it because of the damn snitchware that is embedded in it.
  3. Primarygun, I just setup an FTP using FileZilla. You can get the server and the client from: http://www.sourceforge.net. I'm still tweaking the server and yesterday some idiot attempted to get in through the Administrator interface. I banned the IP from access. I have it being used by 2 forums so far. Unless there's an objection, I'd like to allow my fellow members of this board to have access. It's less than 2 weeks old and I'm new at it. I'm using a 200 GB drive for storage. My IP is dynamic so I'm using http://www.no-ip.com for the hosting. Any questions about access please send me a private message. BTW, both FileZilla and No-Ip are totally FREE !
  4. The U.S. military uses the DU(depleted uranium) round as a tank buster. It's a saboted round that leaves the muzzle at 1500 m/sec. After leaving the muzzle, the sabots fly off like a shot cup in a shotgun round. This sends a dense, relatively "needle-like" projectile with a high ballistic coefficient flying into the enemy tank. The kinetic energy damages the enemy tank severly, often blowing off the turret. The DU ignites after impact creating uranium oxide. IIRC, the poisoning from the fine metal dust and and oxide was referred as "Gulf War Syndrome". I don't know of any rifle bullets constructed of DU.
  5. I started with BASIC. Moved on to ALGOL, FORTRAN, PASCAL, C, and eventually Visual C++. Did some ALC along the way. This is in the span of 32 years.
  6. In model car/plane and drag racing groups, "Nitro" is indeed nitromethane. YT is right about nitro being used in explosives. For all practical purposes, it's hypergolic when it comes into contact with bases - especially NaOH ! Methanol is usually mixed in WINTER versions of windshield wiper fluid. Look for "Jolly Roger" type poison warning on the bottle. Methanol is also used as paint thinner and as a gasoline "dryer" to lockup water that has gotten into the fuel. Booze can be dehydrated by pouring it through anhydrous rock salt. It works well for those who possess the BATFE license to distill ethanol as an "experimental fuel". Salt is nearly insoluble in ethanol but absorbs the water from the azeotrope. Also rock salt can be dried out in the sun and reused.
  7. It will be interesting to see what the chip makers come out with next. Currently, I'm running a 3.8 GHz processor with 1 GB 400 MHz SDRAM. I gave my older P3, 933 MHz processor with 768 MB 133 MHz SDRAM to my brother. To him it was like a bolt of lightning considering that he had a 120 MHz processor with 64 MB EDO RAM previously. Of course, he and his children have already got it infected with viruses !
  8. Viable fusion power plants replacing all fossil fuel burners.
  9. Ted_Marx, nothing stupid about your posts. It's Nature ensuring the survival of our species. I myself have never been married(LOTS of shackups though !), however despite the many funerals I have been to this year(2004), I'm convinced that mankind will ultimately survive until our Sun goes Nova. This past year I became a great-uncle for the 3rd time and I'm delighted ! I took an interest in the nephews and nieces when they were very young. I even took my nephews to the gun range. He's now 3 inches taller than me(I'm 6'1") and wants to be a cop ! Good for him ! Congratulations on extending your family !
  10. Learn to write with your "weaker" hand. This supposedly improves communication between both hemispheres of the brain.
  11. The prices on that link http://www.kno3.com seems to be horribly expensive. I did notice that they carry red phosphorus - something that's hard to find in the U.S.. I make my own pyro chemicals where possible -chlorates, perchlorates, and powdered metals. Most nitrates and sulfur are readily available here. I can get barium carbonate and some other chemicals pretty cheap from a pottery shop. YT2095, I agree with you that primary explosives are the least safe and as such have no use in pyrotechnics. I use this formula for BP: KNO3 - 74.8 / C - 13.3 / S - 11.9 My scale goes down to .01 gram so it's easy to work with very small amounts. I've made BP using other metallic nitrates adjusting the quantities of course. Although slower in performance I do get the colors these other metals impart. As for testing, I live in an apartment(flat) so I find a piece of woods far away from residential areas and out of the prying eyes of the police.
  12. Racism exists in the U.S., but not on the widescale basis I remember growing up in the 60's and 70's. The perception of racism is still perpetrated by special interest groups and is often used as a wedge issue in politics.
  13. What household chemicals are available to you ? Lye-based drain cleaners and aluminum foil would generate your hydrogren gas faster than electrolysis if you have a relatively heat resistant container to mix them in.
