  1. This is often used as "evidence" against evolution by creationists. Obviously we know evolution happened due to multiple evidences and facts, but I have looked this up and none of the sights explained it to my satisfaction. I'm 15, love the science of evolution, and want to understand it more. Plus, almost everyone I know knows I'm an atheist, and they are always challenging me to debates. They know I don't have all the answers, and when I can't answer a question, they take it as some kind of huge victory. This annoys me. How did it happen? If two animals depend on each other for survival, how did they evolve? Were they both already there, and then something happened that made them depend on each other to survive? An example would be the bacteria living in our intestines. They couldn't survive without us. And us without them (I think?). Your replies are appreciated.
  2. I'm 15, about to be 16, and I want to become a scientist. I want to be a biological researcher, specifically studying venom and it's uses in medicine. I love reptiles (I have 5 snakes) and want to work with them in some way, and I've always been fascinated by venomous reptiles and venom in general. I would go as far to say it's almost an obsession. I also want to travel while doing this research. I know I would probably need a masters or a PhD in biology or zoology, or maybe pharmacology? Any advice would be fantastic.
  3. I posted about my biology paper--I think it was yesterday-- and now I need help again. Every website and book I consult has different numbers on rainforest percentage. Some say less than 2 percent, some say 3 percent, some say 6, and some even say 10 percent of the earth is covered in rainforest. I do not know which one to put in my paper. Maybe you could help me with this. It would be apreciated. Thank you. EDIT: Crap, I should have put this in the homework section.
  4. I'm writing a paper for biology class and we are allowed to choose our topics. I chose biodiversity and why it's important. I have written the intro and some of the body, but I just want you to read the intro and tell me if anything needs to be improved, removed, or if there are any grammar mistakes. Here it is: "What is biological diversity (or biodiversity)? 'Biodiversity' is a collective term meaning 'all life on earth'. The Convention of Biological Diversity defines biodiversity as: 'The variability among living organisms from all sources, including inter alia, terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are apart; this includes diversity within species, between species, and of ecosystems'. People often hear about biodiversity, on the news, in the paper, radio shows, articles in magazines, etc. Scientists are trying to get the public aware of biodiversity and why it's important." It looks a lot longer written on a sheet of paper. Your help is highly appreciated.
  5. This is something that has been on my mind for a while. I have done some research and I cannot find anything that answers my question to my satisfaction. How did they come to be? Did they start with the first seed? If so, how did that seed come about without any other seeds to produce it? If someone could give me a link or something that would be great. I'm also new to the forums..so..hey. I'm 15 and in the 10th grade and want to become a scientist. Thanks.
