Imagine a snooker table with a large board straight down the middle but a gap underneath for the balls to pass through.

As the player looks along the left side of the table so he can't see the balls on the right but his opponent can he makes his break. The balls now fly off in all directions.

The opponent sees the black ball go down but the player who just broke didn't. The black ball still went down the hole at the same time regardless of which player could see what.

 

So there are two variations of now.

The now when the opponent saw the black ball go down and the now when the other player found out it had gone down.

The size of the executable will probably be different too.

The machine code instructions might/probably be different too, different compilers sometimes do things differently.

It depends what programming language is used. I can compile C, C++, Smalltalk and Visual Basic Open Source projects but no others.

It's been a while since I used Java, I'm a C++ user.

 

When you're looking for a class to inherit from it's as simple as looking for the one with the most useful behaviour that you need. Since you're still learning you'll make mistakes but you'll learn the ins/outs of other classes and know how to use those in the future.

There are sometimes several classes you can inherit from and they'll each do the job nicely.

 

As for building a Java project into a .exe there are linkers that can do that. Check some Java programming sites with programming utility applications on them.

I used to use Java++ which I'm pretty certain can create .exe files.

And once again, False Dilemma solved everyone's problems.

I assume I'm the problem and you're referring to the fact that I'm solving everyone's problems by leaving because I sometimes struggle comprehending something, which makes me a fool. Or when I do understand something and try to help someone I'm being smug.

An observer moving relative to you will not agree that Mars is where you say it is. Things are not in the same state for everyone. Only in your reference frame.

Forget about people observing things. Regardless of whether anyone can see an object or not it is still where it is in relation to everything else at any one given moment in time.

I work nights and the daytime noises either physically increased or I just started noticing them a few months ago, I also suffer from tinnitus which got worse, leaving me thinking it was stress caused by my financial situation that's still not resolved. So I turned to self hypnosis and cured myself. I can now sleep for hours on end through the daytime and I can hardly hear my tinnitus.

I put myself in a mild trance and keep telling my sub conscious "That noise is background noise, there's nothing I can do about it, it's totally out of my control so I might as well ignore it and get on with the task at hand."

Think about when you were last at home or in a pub and you're involved in a deeply engrossing conversation with someone, don't notice what's being said on the TV or if you're in a pub you ignore the noise around you. It just becomes background noise that you ignore.

And to get into that trance here's a very simple exercise you can all do.

I'll assume there's some background noise in the room you're in right now, I've got the fans in my PC whirring away right now. Find a similar sound and listen to it for a while..

Now sit back, close your eyes and relax for a while, spend a minute or two thinking about a time when you were having an engrossing conversation with someone and there was a lot of noise around you but you ignored the noise and carried on...

Think about the last great film you watched or some other meaningful experience, rerun your memories of all that. When you come to the end of the memory you should notice you weren't paying any attention to the noise you were listening to at the start.

It isn't difficult once you realise just how easy it is because our brains are doing it all the time for us. The trick is to control when it does it for us.

It won't work for everyone because there may be other underlying reasons like a traumatic event from your past and your sub conscious is increasing the background events but it should work for a lot of people.

If you could magically step outside the universe and clapped your magic hands that could freeze the entire universe in its tracks right now (at this whatever moment of time you're in right now), then look around inside it with a magic crystal ball you would see the entire universe frozen in the state of now. Earth would be here, Mars would be over there, the sun would be over there, etc..

 

 

Let's say I stood on the Sun with a ball and you stayed here with a ball. We used a magic radio (no 8 minute waiting time for signal travelling) one of us counted down to 0 then shouted "Now!" as a signal for us to both throw our balls into the air at the same moment in time, we would. So that's the conventional now we all use.

But if you then went and looked through a telescope you'd have to wait 8 minutes to see me throwing my ball into the air even though that happened 8 minutes ago. So if the Sun blew up 8 minutes ago and we're only just feeling the effects right now then it might as well have just blown up right now.

Whatever happened on the Sun 8 minutes ago is irrelevent until we can see or feel its effects here on Earth now.

That wouldn't be the case if you were on a ship orbitting the sun at half the distance we are because they'd have blown up 4 minutes ago. So from their point of view (or relative to them compared to us) now was 4 minutes ago.

But with you yourself not being on that ship it's irrelevant.

I'm not sure how much this will help but here we go...

 

Visualise two mirrors facing each other, travelling through space along parallel lines. There's a single photon of light bouncing between those mirrors.

When the mirrors are stationary the photon just bounces up and down.

When the mirrors start moving the photon doesn't just bounce up and down it has to travel forwards with the mirrors.

So as you trace the path of the photon viewing it from the side it's making an up/down "zig zag" line. So the photon's having to travel that extra distance compared to the mirrors.

 

Think of yourself walking along a quiet road, as you move along you bounce yourself off the kerbs to the other kerb (maybe you've been drinking, again ). It's going to take you longer to walk to the end of the road than it would going constantly straight forwards.

So for moving objects travelling faster means they have to travel that extra diagonal distance too.

I don't know the quantum mechanics of it but I would assume that as electrons orbit the nucleas of the atom they have to travel that extra distance like the photon does.

There are right and wrong ways of doing it.

For a start off nobody needs to know other than the teacher s/he tells and they don't even have to do it covertly. If a few went and reported the bullies behaviour it would be even more effective.

 

why would anyone ever make a square wheel? if anyone where to try to make a wheel, they would have, at the very least, a basic concept of physics, or they would never have wanted to make a wheel. a basic concept of physics is all that's necessary to realize that a square wheel would never work, ever. just drop some rocks and they'll learn that square wheels won't work.

There are many kinds of multiverses though. Parallel ones where for every possible outcome a new universe is created is something I can't accept either.

 

Multiple big bangs in the void/nothingness could have happened, creating seperate universes. This is brane theory, where each universe exists on its own membrane, in its own dimensional pocket of the void/nothingness.

 

Some believe matter and energy entering a black hole spews out into another universe as large as the matter and energy it's devoured.

They could just as easily act like energy storage devices though, maybe having a miniverse in them is just a by product. Maybe our universe is inside a black hole right now..

 

There are other theories but I've never bothered looking into them, too much to comprehend about this one for now.

I don't see how a chemical additive to my brain could be clever enough to figure out which is positive and which is negative. I'm a smoker, obviously I'm clever enough to realise how insane that behaviour is but I still smoke. I can understand some of Einsteins theories and I still can't decide which is negative and positive....

IMO it would be better to increase rational thought processes so people could think clearer and see what is negative and positive behaviour.

There's no way around the fact that in teaching our children to stand up to bullies themselves that there's a chance there could be serious consequences for those children. If myself and a group of neighbours approached the scrotes (technical term for nasty scum bag type people ) who live down the street and we all force them to move home, I wouldn't be surprised if those scrotes took it upon themselves to seek vengence, petrol bombing those who forced them to move... Taking that action against those scrotes is a gamble over whether they will seek vengence or not. I can remove that gamble from the equation by reporting them to the authorities and getting them sorted out that way. With no come back to myself or my property.

If I decide to take that action then it's my decision, it's my property and my life I'm gambling with.

You're telling your kids to go and stand up to bullies themselves.

So you're willing to let your kids take a gamble on whether they'll get picked on even more after standing up to them, what if that involves them getting stabbed or beaten severely??

Isn't it more sensible to tell them the right way to report the bullies to the teachers so there's no chance of any come back to them??
